Amsterdam Condo Renovation

A Historic building from 1600s gets a renovation that highlights its unique characteristics

The Brief

Our goal for this project was to update the interiors of this 1000 sqft condo at the heart of Amsterdam. A bachelor in his mid 30s, our client had a strong artistic background and it was important for us to take that in to consideration the entire time.

The design concept invited modern elements to contrast with the historical aspects of the building. After exploring many options, we decided to partially expose the old brick behind the plastered wall creating an organic line. That became an accent feature for the living dining area.

The Changes

With a functional open concept, guests are invited to integrate from all areas without missing out the fun. Enough seating space was also created to facilitate hosting larger groups, a requirement from our client.

The original wood flooring was recovered and refinished which added a lot of character to the space. Bedrooms and bathrooms were also renovated and enough storage added to attend our client’s needs.
