Vancouver Strata Renovation
A renovation of common areas in a strata building on West 13th.
This project’s brief provided quite a challenge for us. The strata had a very modest budget for their renovation, and approached us with a mission to modernize the interiors of all common areas of their residential building. The majority of residents living in the building had more conservative tastes, which needed to be balanced with the renovation’s modernization.
Keeping in mind the demographics of the strata residents, we approached this renovation with a balance between modernization and timelessness in mind. Using rectilinear geometric shapes, we were able to create a classic feature wall for the lobby that became a point of pride for the residents. For the flooring, we chose a carpet that resembles the look of natural stone. It was a perfect way to tie the exterior aesthetics of the building with the interiors, and is a remarkably elegant patterning for high traffic areas.
Project Highlight: The Changes
The most rewarding part of this project wasn’t the renovation itself, but the effect it had on the residents. The happiness on their faces when the project was completed was priceless. Being able to transform people’s lives by improving the experience they have in the spaces they interact with is what makes me so passionate about the work we do.
“Renata transformed our dark, outdated common areas into bright, welcoming spaces. She had a vision for the design that considered the demographics in our building and respected the budget that had been approved by the owners. Her attention to details went above and beyond. Renata oversaw all the trades involved and made sure that they also met her high standards. We were able to complete the project well within our budget and are very pleased with the result.”
