Whistler Townhome Renovation
A top to bottom renovation of a dated winter cabin in Whistler.
This townhome was an investment property, bought with the purpose of being a rental. At the time of purchase, there was a low demand for rentals, and the unit was often empty. Our client brought us onboard to renovate this property to make the unit more visually appealing to increase rental demand.
Our solution was to create the feeling and warmth of the experience of a winter cabin to make it more appealing to vacationers wanting a total Whistler experience. It was important to modernize the space but retain all of the existing elements that could contribute to a rustic feeling. Not only did this keep renovation costs down, but it kept a sense of tradition and authenticity.
We achieved the client’s goals by changing the color of the interior walls to a brighter tone enhancing the beautiful wood beams that was a great feature of the cabin. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully modernized with new cabinets, appliances and the expansion of the kitchen island. Heated floors were also added to all hard surface areas.
Original wood beams were kept and sanded to preserve the cabin look, as well as the original wood burning fireplace. The use of neutral color linens also added texture and enriched the overall design.
Were the renovations a success? Our client thinks so, because they are renting this unit nonstop ever since it was renovated!
